According to Francis Bacon “Travelling is a part of education and excursion is not just a pleasure trip; it enhances the knowledge of the trainees beyond the four walls of the classroom.” To provide such an enriching experience to the trainees, Don Bosco Skill Mission(DBSM) organized Bangalore out bounding trip on 1st March 2020. To make the excursion more vibrant, a private bus was booked and food arrangements were also made from the centre for the trainees.

The residential trainees and the day scholars gathered on the campus at 8:30 am. The event started with a prayer guided by Fr. Joseph Elavanal followed by a set of instructions to the trainees. The trainees were escorted by three staff of Don Bosco Skill Mission. (i.e. Mr Binosh, Ms Ann Louisa Paul and Br. Thomas Aro). Since 50% of the trainees were non-Christians, Bull temple was chosen as the first destination which was also nearer to the centre. Trainees spent some time there and refreshed with some cool drinks and snacks. Then headed towards Lalbagh, this botanical garden was a delight for the trainees and many photographs were taken, the trainees also visualized the famous glass house where the annual flower show is held every year.

Later the trainees enjoyed a delicious lunch arranged by the centre. Then they were taken to Bangalore Government Museum where the trainees acquired knowledge about the tangible and intangible evidence of society and nature. The next destination was Vidhana Soudha, the iconic building of Karnataka, built-in Neo-Dravidian Style. The trainees were astounded by the view of the state legislative house. To enjoy the cool evening, they were next taken to Cubbon Park and were entertained with some games. The last spot for the tour was Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park where the trainees got fascinated by the Water Dance shows, fountains, lights & music, surrounded by landscaped gardens.

The excursion helped to develop in trainees a love for nature and to get acquainted with the real happiness in the outside world. The day paved a way to enhance the power of observations, explorations, judgment and drawing inferences, problem-solving ability of the trainees. It also developed the qualities like resourcefulness, self-confidence, initiative and leadership amongst trainees. The trainees got abundant memorable experience and deep knowledge of various aspects of life.
