On 12th July 2025, the staff and trainees of Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM) embarked on a vibrant and enriching exposure visit to four culturally and naturally significant sites beyond Bangalore: Somanathpur, Talakadu, Mudukuthore, and Shivanasamudram Waterfalls. The day was not only a journey through history and nature but also a celebration of community and leadership, making it an unforgettable experience for all who took part.
The journey began at Somanathpur, where the group started the day with a hearty breakfast before exploring the magnificent Chennakesava Temple. A true gem of Hoysala architecture, the temple’s intricate carvings and historical significance offered trainees a deep cultural insight and a new appreciation for India’s architectural heritage.
The group then moved to Mudukuthore, where the visit took on a celebratory tone. A special birthday celebration was organized in honor of Fr. Eugene Florence SDB, Director of DBSM. The event radiated warmth and unity, beginning with heartfelt speeches and a soulful song performed by Fr. Eugene himself. The celebration continued with lively dance performances by the Cloud Practitioner batches, a thought-provoking skit presented by the Electric Vehicle (EV) trainees, and the joyful distribution of cake. A festive lunch followed, enjoyed by all as one family, strengthening the bonds between students and staff.
After the celebration, the group headed to the breathtaking Shivanasamudram Waterfalls, where the cascading beauty of nature offered a refreshing break and a moment of reflection. Trainees also visited nearby temples, enriching their understanding of local traditions and spiritual heritage. The day concluded with group photographs, capturing the smiles, memories, and shared experiences of a truly meaningful outing.
This exposure visit was much more than a day out — it was a perfect blend of cultural learning, celebration of leadership, and community bonding. For the trainees of DBSM, it offered new perspectives, renewed energy, and a stronger sense of belonging. The experience stood as a reminder that learning extends beyond the classroom — and that shared journeys can shape both hearts and minds.
