On June 5th, 2025, World Environment Day was celebrated with remarkable enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility at Mother Teresa Hall, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone involved. This year’s theme, #BeatPlasticPollution, resonated deeply as it spotlighted the urgent global call to drastically reduce plastic waste and embrace sustainable alternatives to protect our fragile planet.

The event opened with an inspiring welcome address by Sneha, who not only introduced the theme but also shed light on the alarming realities of plastic pollution and its devastating effects on ecosystems. She passionately urged everyone to rethink their daily habits and make conscious, eco-friendly choices that could collectively lead to a cleaner, healthier Earth.

A thought-provoking skit followed, brilliantly performed by students from the Electric Vehicle (EV) and Food & Beverage (F&B) batches. Their powerful enactment dramatized the critical importance of trees in our environment, illustrating the far-reaching consequences of deforestation. The skit was a vivid reminder that every tree lost disrupts the delicate balance of nature and accelerates climate challenges—a message that deeply moved the audience.

Next, a vibrant slogan presentation captivated the crowd, with students delivering creative and impactful phrases that served as urgent calls to action. Their words echoed the day’s mission, inspiring all present to become active guardians of the environment.

Madam Niveditha then took the stage, sharing an insightful discourse on humanity’s intricate relationship with nature. She emphasized how every action—whether thoughtful or negligent—has a direct ripple effect on our surroundings. Highlighting the dual-edged role of technology, she encouraged the responsible use of innovation to foster harmony between progress and planetary health.

Adding an educational layer to the celebration, students presented a dynamic PowerPoint session detailing key environmental challenges such as plastic pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss. They also proposed practical solutions individuals and communities could adopt, leaving the audience both informed and motivated to act.

The event culminated with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Gowri, who expressed sincere appreciation to all participants, staff, and organizers for their dedication and collaborative spirit in making the celebration a resounding success.

What made the day truly unforgettable was the hands-on tree plantation activity that followed. Students were divided into ten groups, each entrusted with planting a tree behind the kitchen area under staff guidance. This symbolic act not only reinforced their commitment to environmental stewardship but also gave them a tangible connection to the cause—planting the seeds for a greener future, quite literally.

World Environment Day 2025 at Mother Teresa Hall transcended a mere observance; it became a vibrant movement of awareness, education, and actionable commitment. It inspired every attendee to look beyond awareness and embrace sustainability as a lifelong responsibility—turning knowledge into power, and power into meaningful change. This day will be remembered as a pivotal moment when a community united to beat plastic pollution and nurture the planet for generations to come.
