• Industrial Colloquium 1.0 | Leveraging Technology for Mission’ Skilling India

    Don Bosco Tech Society in association with Siemens organized the first Industry Colloquium under the title, Industrial Colloquium 1.0 | Leveraging Technology for Mission 'Skilling India' at its resource centre, Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore on March 11- 12, 2016. This colloquium acted as a platform, to bring together the Industry expertise, technology enablers and the faculty to embark upon the journey of skilling the youth of India using advanced digital learning techniques.  

    The Colloquium was graced by the present of Ms. Aprana Upadhyala and Mr. Sateesh Kurup as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. Other dignitaries and speakers present were Fr. A.M. Joseph, SDB (Executive Director, Don Bosco Tech Society), Fr. Arul Maran, SDB (Director-DBSM), Fr. George Matthew, SDB (Assistant Director - Finance, Don Bosco Tech Society), Fr. Remesh Cherian, SDB (Assistant Director-Programmes, Don Bosco Tech Society), Mr. Vivek Singh (Blue Star), Indraneel Bhattacharya (Laxmi Machine Works), Mr. Eric Dupount (Schneider Electric), Mr. Manikandan (Hewlett-Packard), Mr. Sreekumar (Yamaha) and Mr. Prabir Ray (ESAB). The event was inaugurated with a prayer song by the TNT Trainees followed by lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries. 

    In his opening speech, Father A. M. Joseph spoke on how technology can be utilize to give quality training to the rural youths. Ms. Aparna presented a speech about her project in Andhra Pradesh and its challenges as well as achievements. 

    Post-lunch presentation about the company, training school, flip classroom, Massively Open Online Course (MOOCS), emergence of LMW and its four divisions, types of air conditioning and its opportunities and challenge, process and the functioning of a company, welding skill in the modern world were presented by respective representatives of industry partners from Yamaha, HP, Laxmi Machine Work, Schneider Electric, Blues Star, ESAB, etc was ensued.

    At last a demonstration by Knowledge Podium group on Internet Wellness, cyber bullying and game addiction was given. The event finally concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr. Arul Maran.
