On September 26, 2025, the Don Bosco Skill Mission (DBSM), Bengaluru, in collaboration with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India), inaugurated a new batch of the Data Center Operation Management (DCOM) course — a program designed to prepare young professionals for one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.
The ceremony opened with a Prayer and Anthem, invoking both solemnity and inspiration. In his Welcome Address, Br. Barnabas Khriam (Assistant Director, DBSM), extended a warm greeting to the dignitaries, faculty, and students, setting a tone of camaraderie and purpose.
The traditional Lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries symbolized not just the dawn of a new academic journey, but also the illumination of a career path in a domain that powers the digital economy. A creative Mime performance by DCOM students captured the spirit of teamwork and skill-building — qualities essential to thrive in the data-driven future.
The highlight of the event was the keynote addresses delivered by the distinguished guests. Mr. Shankar KM (Senior Director – Data Center Operations, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres) spoke with clarity about the immense opportunities and evolving challenges in the data center industry. His address emphasized the growing demand for skilled professionals who can ensure operational excellence in an increasingly digital world. His insights underlined that data centers are not just infrastructure, but the very backbone of global connectivity, cloud services, and AI-driven innovation.
Adding a practical perspective, Ms. Chandrakala Ponnada (Manager – Datacentre Operations, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres) encouraged students to approach their training with discipline and dedication, reminding them that employability goes beyond technical competence — it requires a mindset of continuous learning, adaptability, and professionalism.
The atmosphere was further enlivened by a soulful song performance by the Food & Beverage (F&B) candidates, infusing the event with cultural vibrancy. The formal distribution of kits by the dignitaries signaled the official commencement of the DCOM training, equipping students with tools to begin their journey.
In his Vote of Thanks, Fr. Britto Francis (Assistant Director, DBSM) acknowledged the collective effort of partners, trainers, and students in making the initiative possible. He noted that this collaboration with industry leaders like ST Telemedia represents a powerful bridge between academia and enterprise, ensuring that young aspirants are trained for real-world needs.
The inauguration concluded with a photo session and fellowship tea, offering participants an informal space to interact, network, and share aspirations.
The event was more than a ceremonial launch — it was a glimpse into the future of India’s talent pipeline for the data center industry. As data becomes the new oil, and digital transformation accelerates globally, programs like DCOM ensure that youth are not just employable but are also industry-ready contributors to the digital economy.
The day left the students with not only kits in hand, but also a sense of direction, motivation, and an understanding of their role in shaping the future of digital infrastructure.
